20th December 2006 - TARMAC STUDY PROVES BENEFITS OF 'GREEN FERTILISER'

Green fertiliser, or AgSlag as it's commonly known, which is made from steel slag dust, now has proven benefits for arable and grassland farming, according to Tarmac and Newcastle University.

19th December 2006 - SLAM DUNK! DERBY BASKETBALL TEAM SCORES TARMAC FUNDING

Local basketball team, the Derby Trailblazers, is celebrating a win of a different kind - £250 worth of funding from Derbyshire-based Tarmac Topfloor.  The Trailblazers - who play at Moorways Leisure Centre - were set up in 2000, and have 'blazed' a path through the English Basketball League (EBL).

19th December 2006 - TARMAC UNVEILS WAR MEMORIAL

Tarmac has unveiled a monument to RAF and Canadian Air Force personnel who lost their lives on training exercises during the Second World War, whilst stationed at RAF Milfield.

14th December 2006 - WINTER ROAD RENEWAL GETS UNDERWAY ON A40

A programme of winter road renewal is now well underway on the A40 and A487 in the picturesque port and coastal town of Fishguard, South Wales.

Tarmac has recently won a two-year plus framework contract to manage and maintain part of the road network for the newly formed South Wales Trunk Road Agency (SWTRA).

4th December 2006 - TARMAC CHECKS IN FOR REPAIRS AT TRAVELODGE AND LITTLE CHEF

Tarmac Limited has been contracted by facilities management company, Enterprise CRW Maintenance, to survey and carry out infrastructure repairs and maintenance at about 240 TraveLodge and Little Chef sites around the country.

The Government has stepped up its challenge to the construction industry to adopt a more sustainable approach to development. Steel slag dust may soon be used to treat contaminated land, making it suitable for redevelopment, if current research trials led by Tarmac Limited and Birmingham University are successful.

30th October 2006 - TARMAC TECHNOLOGY MAKES FAST MOVES AT DARTFORD JUDO CLUB

A brand new four-bedroom accommodation facility has been built in rapid time at the Olympic standard Dartford Judo Club using Tarmac Topblock's fast track Durox System with thin joint technology.

18th October 2006 - CROWN FARM QUARRY OPEN DAY ROCKS!

Tarmac's Crown Farm Quarry Open Day last Saturday (14 October) was a fantastic success and attracted more than 300 visitors. The fun day was hosted by Tarmac on behalf of Cheshire County Council led Sandstone Ridge ECOnet Partnership (SREP) and was enjoyed by adults and children alike.

16th October 2006 - SWINDEN & THRESHFIELD QUARRY PROPOSED PLANS

Tarmac has held a public exhibition showcasing its planning proposals for Swinden and Threshfield Quarries in North Yorkshire.  The proposal is to extract a further 24 million tonnes of limestone from Swinden Quarry in substitution for the 24 million tonnes of limestone that Tarmac could extract from Threshfield Quarry.

12th October 2006 - TARMAC CREATES CAR PARK CAPABLE OF STORING RAINWATER

Tarmac has constructed an environmentally-friendly car park, capable of storing thousands of litres of rainwater, as a sustainable solution for a new community centre in Bristol, which is due to open this month.

4th October 2006 - SWINDEN & THRESHFIELD QUARRY PROPOSALS GO ON SHOW

Tarmac is opening the doors to a Public Exhibition next Saturday (14 October) to showcase its proposed plans for Swinden and Threshfield Quarries.  Rob Moore, Tarmac northern estates & geology manager, said: "We are very excited about the benefits the proposed plans for Swinden and Threshfield Quarries bring to the local area."

3rd October 2006 - TARMAC OPENS THE DOORS TO CROWN FARM QUARRY

Tarmac's Crown Farm Quarry is opening its doors to the public for a fun filled family day out.  The fun day is being hosted by Tarmac on behalf of Cheshire County Council led Sandstone Ridge ECOnet Partnership and will be held on Saturday 14 October from 1pm to 4pm, and will be held at Crown Farm Quarry in Delamere, Cheshire.

8th September 2006 - TARMAC EMPLOYEES IN PEAK FITNESS

Six Tarmac employees are dusting off their walking boots to take part in the Three Peaks Challenge over the weekend of 16-17 September. Adrian Thompson, Adrian Male, Stephen Preece, Stephen Stasiak and John Sterland, all from Tarmac’s Precast Concrete site in Tallington, Lincolnshire and Irek Gawedzinski from Ettingshall in Wolverhampton have been training hard over the last 6 months to get in shape for the gruelling event.

Tarmac is to withdraw its planning application to create a new sand and gravel quarry at Bulcote Farm, Gunthorpe, Nottinghamshire.

Having completed extensive consultation with the local community, Tarmac has today submitted a planning application for a new quarry south of Broom in Bedfordshire.

14 July 2006 - TARMAC GETS CYCLISTS BACK ON TRACK

Tarmac has helped cyclists in Wales get back on track with a major re-surfacing project at one of the UK's major velodromes.  The £385,000 project involved the company re-surfacing the velodrome at Maindy, in Cardiff, and re-landscaping the area around the track.
